Compression Springs used with either spikes or lags to add preloaded strength to areas that would benefit from added compression strength. Especially, high-shrinkage areas where there is not enough log mass to help pressure the logs in place, such as above windows in the header areas. |

Thru-Bolt Springs are similar to compression springs in function but are used on thru-bolts that run "through" the full vertical length of the log wall. The pre-loaded springs put a constant pressure down on the logs which is slowly absorbed as the logs shrinks over time. Thru-Bolts are especially useful in hurricane and tornado regions. Also, in mountain areas where extreme high winds exist. Springs can be utilized at either the top log of the wall (as pictured) or at the bottom if you have a crawl space. Through Bolting CAN be an excellent fastening system! Previously, to be completely effective, you had to tighten the through bolts several times each year!
The Problems:
1. Labor - every time you go to tighten them (usually not in the most convenient locations).
2. They were already loose or not tight enough, allowing the logs to twist or bow as they dry, risking air, water infiltration, heat loss, or unsightly gaps.
The Solutions:
The TBS-1000 has over 1-1/2" of travel with an overall length of 6-1/2". You may only have to re-tighten your home once or twice!
The TBS-950 has 3/4" of travel with an overall length of 3-1/2" for those tight clearance problems.
Works with any style log.
Allows natural expansion and contraction during seasonal changes while maintaining downward force.
Painted black (Rust Resistance).
Ends ground flat (For Easy Installation).
Use up to 7/8 " threaded rod.
Inexpensive investment towards your new log home! |
